Regina biscuits, also called the Reginelle.
They are shortbread biscuits covered with sesame seeds, typical of the province of Palermo but also widespread in other Sicilian provinces.
The Reginelle are a delight! You can find them all over Sicily - with small differences between one city and another - but the center of these goodness is and remains Palermo. In dialect "viscotta 'nciminate or viscotta ca juggiulena" (cimino or gioggiulena is the same as sesame seeds) or affectionately the Reginelle are the names with which to call these biscuits in Palermo.
The main feature is the total coverage of sesame seeds which, when toasted, give a characteristic taste to these biscuits.
