It was Sicily and its Greeks who gave agate its name. The hard stone that shines in concentric layers of color is linked to the river Acates. It was discovered there, keeping its name forever, while the river changed it several times, finally calling itself Dirillo. For a long time it was believed that ground agate and drunk with wine healed wounds.
Agate is made from Frappato grapes, bunches that are already beautiful to look at and that give the pleasantly tannic wine a red color that fades into purple, with hints of red fruits and a characteristic freshness.
